Did you know that one third of white water from dairy processes such as CIP contains milk residue? Do you want to recover this valuable commodity and turn it into white gold? If so then the APV Goldstream Reverse Osmosis system can help you achieve this goal. You can recover as much as 10,000 kg of milk for every 1,000,000 litres of white water, increasing the value of your daily milk intake by 1%. The remaining two thirds of your white water can be reused as CIP water or polished further to produce drinking water quality standard for use as process water thus reducing your environmental footprint. The APV Goldstream Reverse Osmosis system can also reduce your water treatment costs and has a payback period as low as one year.
Application
The mix of milk and water made at the first water flush of dairy equipment during CIP cleaning process is known as “white water”. This white water can contain raw milk from road tankers, milk silos or other processing equipment. The APV GoldStream System uses proven reverse osmosis (RO) technology to concentrate milk components back to their original compositions or higher from white water.
Capacity
The APV GoldStream RO units come in capacities: 5, 15, 30 and 45 m³ of white water per day (batch operation), based on diluted whole milk and 10 hours production time at 5-10°C.
Process Description
The white water is fed from a storage tank and separated into a retentate phase (milk concentrate) and a permeate phase (water). The retentate is recirculated from a storage tank until the desired Total Solids content is achieved. The permeate can be polished by the RO unit to produce drinking quality water for use as CIP water or process water.
